SUMMER BAND CAMP THAT MAKES YOUR CHILD A BIG STAR

Big Star Music Academy invites you to experience our brand new summer camp program! Our summer camps will cater music theory learning, social skills, teamwork, integrity, and an opportunity to learn performance skills and play a setlist of songs. Students who sign up will also have the opportunity to show off what they learned over the course of the camp by performing at a real rock & roll venue! Each camp consists of different themes with different yet expansive age/skill levels! Sign your child up for guitar, bass, drums, keys, and/or vocals. Don't worry if they are not sure because everyone will have an opportunity to try something new!

Beginners Luck Camp

June 3-7 | July 8-12 | Ages 7-11 | Beginner-Intermediate Skill Level

If your child is just starting out with music, or even curious about it then this camp will make them feel right at home. Joining this camp requires little to no skill and will go over the fundamentals of music theory while learning about all kinds of genres of music as well as learning how to play some of these songs These genres and artists will include Pop (Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, 21 Pilots, and more) Rock (Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, ACDC, the Beatles, and more) Alternative/Indie (Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys, Weezer, Black Keys, and more).

Emo Summer Camp

June 10-14 | July 8-12 | Ages 12+ | Novice-Adept Skill Level

For those who think the world is lame and with a rebellious spirit, this camp is for you! This camp will facilitate the history and impact that early 2000s emocore has had and still continues to make in the music industry. Students will learn 3 to 4 songs by bands such as Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, Coheed and Cambria, Paramore, My Chemical Romance, and more!

Metal Summer Camp

June 17-21 | July 15-19 | Ages 13+ | Intermediate-Advanced Skill Level

Metal is a growing industry in San Antonio and has changed music in the last five decades. This camp will go over the history of Metal and go over its numerous sub genres. This is a camp for those who long for a challenge. This camp will go over bands like Black Sabbath, Dio, Dokken, Metallica, Deftones, Tool, Gojira, Avenged Sevenfold, and more!

Songwriting/Recording Camp

July 22-August 9 | Ages 15+ | Intermediate-Advanced Skill Level

This camp is for those who want to become the artists of the future. Here you will learn what it takes to write your own music and how to even record it in our state of the art recording equipment for the students to take home and share with loved ones. There will even be a showcase performance for the students to show off the music they wrote! Due to the artistic process and the demands it takes to record music, this camp will be held for 3 weeks excluding the weekends.
